A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between GAK HealthCare International’s constituent institution Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital (ANTH) and Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad (QAU)’s Department of Pharmacy to establish strong research linkages and collaboration in clinical trials and pharmaceutical medicine and sciences with a special focus on bioequivalence and bioavailability.
The signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, QAU, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, QAU. The MoU was signed by Dr. Areej Neyazi, Director ANTH, and Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar.
Distinguished representatives from both institutions attended, including from GAK HealthCare: Maj. Gen. (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Vice Chancellor CUI (proposed); Col. (R) Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba Abbasi, Registrar CUI; Imran Ali Ghouri, Head of Communications; Dr. M. Usman Tareen, Deputy Director, ANTH Clinical Trials Unit; and Dr. Usman Waheed, Principal Islamabad Medical Technology College IMDC.
From QAU: Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences; Prof. Dr. Irfan Zia Qureshi, Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali, Director ORIC & Chairperson Department of Microbiology; Prof. Dr. Ihsan ul Haq, Chairman Department of Pharmacy; Dr. Salma Malik, Director External Linkages; along with senior faculty and administrative staff.
Through this MoU, ANTH and QAU will jointly promote clinical and pharmaceutical research, create training and exchange opportunities, and foster innovation in healthcare. Importantly, ANTH is a registered clinical research unit under the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), ensuring credibility and compliance for this collaboration.
This partnership is poised to advance pharmaceutical sciences, strengthen academia–industry integration, and contribute to healthcare innovation and research excellence in Pakistan.
