Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital hosted a three-day training on Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for representatives from six leading private healthcare institutions in Islamabad and nearby areas. This initiative, in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan and the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, Government of Pakistan, led to the inauguration of the Kangaroo Mother Care Unit in ANTH, the very first KMC unit in a private hospital of Pakistan.
KMC is a life-saving practice that involves skin-to-skin contact, allowing parents to provide warmth and nurture to their newborns, especially those born prematurely or with low birth weight. This approach has been shown to significantly reduce neonatal mortality, improve bonding, and boost breastfeeding rates (UNICEF).
Join us in celebrating this milestone as we continue to support the health and well-being of our smallest and most vulnerable patients!
