Health Ministry Forms Public-Private Partnership for Hepatitis Elimination; Names Akbar Niazi Hospital Centre of Excellence

The Federal Government has reinforced its commitment to eliminating hepatitis in Pakistan
by strengthening the implementation of the Prime Minister’s National Program for the
Elimination of Hepatitis C through public-private collaboration, with Dr.Akbar Niazi Teaching
Hospital (ANTH) designated as the program’s focal center.

The announcement was made during a high-level seminar held in connection with World
Hepatitis Day, jointly organized by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations &
Coordination, Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, GAK HealthCare International and other
partners.

Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, Syed Mustafa
Kamal, inaugurated the seminar, while Federal Minister for Planning, Development and
Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry, attended as the Chief Guest and delivered
the keynote address. The event brought together senior government officials, representatives
of the World Health Organization (WHO), healthcare leaders, policymakers, researchers,
clinicians and development partners, underscoring Pakistan’s shared commitment to
achieving a Hepatitis-Free Pakistan by 2030.
